Water Efficiency

Buildings are major users of our potable water supply. The goal of this credit category is to encourage efficient use of water, inside and out, to reduce the burden on municipal water supply.

  • 1.28 gallon per flush High Efficiency Toilets (HET’s), which save 20% over standard 1.6 gallon per flush toilets
  • 0.125 gallon per flush “pint flush” High Efficiency Urinals (HEU’s), which save 87.5% over standard 1.0 gallon per flush urinals
  • 1.6 gallon per minute sinks, which save 36% over standard 2.5 gallon per minute sinks
  • 1.5 gallon per minute showers, which save 40% over standard 2.5 gallon per minute showers
  • Native, drought-tolerant landscaping with a high-efficiency irrigation system, which saves more than 27,500 gallons of water annually

The Watson Land Company Headquarters uses 35% less potable water than a conventional office space with standard fixtures. This will result in an estimated savings of more than 37,000 gallons of potable water per year.
